Who We’re Looking For
At Mountain Valley Counseling, we don’t hire to simply fill a seat — we hire to invest deeply in the people who join us and build a strong clinical team together. We offer a clear path to full licensure, leadership and growth opportunities for those who want them, and a culture that actually takes care of its clinicians. In return, we’re looking for people who want to stick around for a while. If you treat every position as a brief stepping stone to somewhere else, we’re probably not the right fit. But if you’re looking for a practice where you can grow your skills, get high-quality supervision, build a caseload, develop a specialization with the support of a clinical team, and be part of something clinician-led rather than Venture Capitalist and investor-driven, keep reading.A Note From Misty
Hi, I’m Misty Newman, CMHC. I’m the owner of Mountain Valley Counseling, and I am currently building my team. I’m very mindful and deliberate about how MVC grows. No matter how many people join us, I am committed to making sure every clinician feels supported and connected, with quality supervision and a team culture that means something. I am not a micromanager. I don’t require evening or weekend hours, though you’re welcome to work during those times if that fits your schedule and lifestyle. I am in this office. You will see me, you can check in with me, and I genuinely want to know how you’re doing, not just clinically, but as a person. I am deeply passionate about mental health and the difference this work makes in people’s lives. I continue to practice as a therapist and supervisor. I am proud of the practice I have built and even more proud of the team I am building. This is not a side project for me. I plan to be here for the long haul, and I hope you will be too.Hours & Structure
Part-time: 15–20 direct client hours per week. Supervision offered biweekly. Office sharing may be required. Full-time: 25–30 direct client hours per week. Weekly supervision and full benefits package included. We’re Also Hiring: APRNs & Psychologists
Mountain Valley Counseling is growing into a more comprehensive mental health practice, and that means building a team with a wider range of expertise. We are actively looking for an APRN and a psychologist who share our values and want to be part of a collaborative, clinician-led practice. APRN (Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner): We are looking for a prescriber who wants to work collaboratively alongside our therapy team. This isn’t a high-volume, revolving door prescribing role. It’s an opportunity to provide thoughtful, integrated psychiatric care as part of a team that communicates. General mental health focus with an emphasis on medication management in collaboration with clients’ therapists. Psychologist: We are looking for a psychologist interested in psychological testing and assessment, and/or providing supervision to some of our clinical team. If you’re someone who loves the diagnostic work, wants to offer evaluations, and values being part of a connected practice rather than working in isolation, we’d love to talk. For both roles, the same values apply. We want people who are invested in quality care, who value collaboration, and who want to build something here rather than just pass through. For Graduate Interns
We ask that interns work toward seeing at least 15 or more direct clients per week for a more robust and comprehensive internship experience. Our intern interview process is selective. We are only accepting graduate students we believe could be a strong long-term fit with our clinical team. We typically hope to extend employment offers to our interns upon graduation, so we take that match seriously from the start. Mountain Valley Counseling | misty@mvccutah.comWhat MVC offers:

MVC Quality Supervision Style:
We value having a strong clinical supervision team. We pride ourselves on being regularly available to clinical staff with questions and concerns. Misty is trained as a psychodynamic, object relations and attachment theory therapist and use those modalities to inform the clinical supervision at MVC and conceptualization of clinical cases. While intervention and skill building with clients can be helpful and certainly utilized in our supervision when the treatment calls for it, our supervision strongly focuses on transference, countertransference and unconscious processes. We value insight for the client/patient and the treating clinician. We see clinical utility in conceptualizing clients on a deeper level. We appreciate clinicians that can be open to understanding their own process and how that impacts the work they are doing with their clients/patients.
We want high-quality, ethical, boundaried, well-trained, self-motivated, independent, organized, timely with documentation and notes, self-reflective psychiatric prescribers, interns and clinicians who are wanting to grow their clinical skills. At MVC we treat people in individual therapy and couples therapy across the lifespan. We also offer group therapy and workshops and psychiatric medication management services.
At Mountain Valley Counseling, we want to hire psychiatric nurse practitioners, interns and therapists who are open to learning and have the ability to be self-reflective regardless of theoretical orientation or years of experience in the field. The ability to be self-reflective and accept feedback is a paramount skill we are looking for at MVC.
