Medication Management
A whole-person approach to care
We take time to understand the full picture of your mental health. We don’t want to simply manage symptoms, but improve how you’re living day to day.
In addition to medication when appropriate, we often explore the foundations that support emotional wellbeing, such as sleep, stress, routines, and nutrition. These conversations are practical and grounded, focused on small changes that feel realistic and sustainable rather than overwhelming. Whenever possible, we work closely with your therapist so your care feels connected and supported from multiple angles.
Medication management is available to individuals who are actively engaged in therapy. This includes current Mountain Valley Counseling clients as well as people working with a therapist outside our practice. We also see children and adolescents when clinically appropriate. In these cases, we take extra care in assessment and always include parents or guardians in the process so that care is thoughtful and collaborative.
Our providers support a wide range of mental health concerns, including but not limited to the following:
Depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD and trauma-related conditions, mood disorders, ADHD, OCD and postpartum related mental health concerns. We also work with other conditions when medication may be helpful as part of treatment. Each care plan is personalized. We take time to understand your experience, monitor progress carefully, and adjust treatment as needed so it continues to fit your needs over time.
Both of our providers are trained in ketamine treatment as part of a structured, therapy-integrated program. Ketamine is offered primarily to established Mountain Valley Counseling clients and is always paired with psychotherapy. Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy requires careful screening and coordination with your therapist. We use this treatment intentionally and thoughtfully, with a focus on safety, structure, and meaningful therapeutic progress rather than quick symptom relief alone.
When medication is part of treatment, we are intentional about how it is used. We prioritize options with strong evidence for safety and effectiveness, and we take a conservative approach to controlled substances. When medications like stimulants for ADHD are prescribed, they are carefully monitored. In other cases, medications such as benzodiazepines may be used sparingly and only when clearly appropriate, given their risks with long-term use and addictive qualities. Throughout care, we focus on steady follow-up, thoughtful adjustments, and ensuring treatment continues to support your long-term wellbeing.
We do not prescribe opioids, Suboxone, or methadone.
Your care is provided by experienced psychiatric clinicians who share a thoughtful, safe, and whole-person approach to prescribing.
Meg Taylor, FNP
Annette Ephroni, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Both providers are committed to careful prescribing, collaborative care, and supporting meaningful, lasting change.
Beginning medication management starts with a conversation with one of our nurses. We ask that clients are currently engaged in therapy so that care is supported and integrated. From there, we complete an initial evaluation together and explore whether medication may be a helpful part of your treatment plan.
If it is appropriate, we work with you to create a thoughtful, individualized plan. If not, we’ll help you think through other options that may better fit your needs. Remember, just because you meet with Annette or Meg, does not mean you have to take medications. They simply can be an option. There is no pressure to begin medications.
If you’re considering medication management or simply want to learn more, we’re here to help you explore your options.
