About McKenzie

McKenzie Van Ausdal, MSCMHC-I (she, her)

Student Therapist

As a counselor, I’m here to help clients better understand themselves, their beliefs, patterns, and experiences that may be holding them back so they can create meaningful, lasting change. I take a client-centered, psychodynamic, and attachment-based approach, creating a space that feels safe, supportive, and authentic, where you can explore your experiences while being guided toward growth and deeper self-understanding.

I enjoy working with teens, young adults, and adults navigating relationship dynamics, divorce, identity exploration, anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, grief, faith transitions, body image concerns, and attachment wounds. I use psychoeducation and interventions from DBT and ACT to help build insight, self-trust, and self-compassion, while offering practical tools for navigating life’s challenges. I’m especially passionate about using an attachment-based lens to support clients in exploring and shaping their identities, building self-trust, and feeling more empowered in their lives and relationships. I also tailor my approach to meet each client’s unique needs.

Before studying psychology and counseling, I spent 14 years in client-focused roles within the service industry, which deepened my ability to connect with people, build trust, and help others feel truly seen. I’m especially passionate about supporting individuals in the LGBTQ+ community and creating a space where everyone feels understood, accepted, and empowered.
