Join the team!

Hi, I’m Misty Newman, CMHC. I’m the owner of Mountain Valley Counseling and am currently building my team of mental health therapists and medication management prescribers. While I hope to continue to grow, I never want to grow so big that I lose the intimate feel, integrity and one-on-one support of a smaller group practice. I am not a micromanager. I don’t require evening or weekend hours, but you can work during those times if that works best for you and your lifestyle/schedule. Work whenever you want and wherever you want! I just ask for a minimum of 15 direct client hours per week if you want part-time hours. Full benefit package offered for full-time hours.

What MVC offers:

MVC Quality Supervision Style:

We value having a strong clinical supervision team. We pride ourselves on being regularly available to clinical staff with questions and concerns. Misty is trained as a psychodynamic, object relations and attachment theory therapist and use those modalities to inform the clinical supervision at MVC and conceptualization of clinical cases. While intervention and skill building with clients can be helpful and certainly utilized in our supervision when the treatment calls for it, our supervision strongly focuses on transference, countertransference and unconscious processes. We value insight for the client/patient and the treating clinician. We see clinical utility in conceptualizing clients on a deeper level. We appreciate clinicians that can be open to understanding their own process and how that impacts the work they are doing with their clients/patients.

What MVC is looking for in a nurse practitioner, intern, provisionally licensed or fully licensed clinician:

We want high-quality, ethical, boundaried, well-trained, self-motivated, independent, organized, self-reflective prescribers, interns and clinicians who are wanting to grow their clinical skills. At MVC we treat people in individual therapy and couples therapy across the lifespan. We intend to add some group therapy in 2024 and we are also hoping to add medication management to the services we are able to offer to our clients.

At Mountain Valley Counseling, we want to hire nurse practitioners, interns and therapists who are open to learning and have the ability to be self-reflective regardless of theoretical orientation or years of experience in the field. The ability to be self-reflective and accept feedback is a paramount skill we are looking for at MVC.
